Top 10 Best Zumba Shoes [Comparison Table]
Popular Brands of Zumba Sneakers
RYKA has been around for almost 30 decades making shoes specifically for women. They’ve done extensive research on women’s feet to aid in the making of their shoes.
Particular to women, they make shoes with a narrower heel and roomier forefoot. They also increased the instep volume and created a more secure footbed.
Celebrities like Princess Diana have been enjoying RYKA trainers since the 1990s. RYKAs are well-known among women everywhere and are a well-trusted brand of sportswear. And they can definitely make great Zumba shoes for women.
Bloch is a shoe company that specializes in making dance shoes. They make shoes for all dance styles including jazz, ballet, ballroom, and, you guessed it, Zumba footwear.
Another well-known shoe company, you can be confident that Bloch is dedicated to amplifying the dancer experience. I have been wearing Bloch shoes as a dancer myself, so I can attest to their high quality. Trust me when I say Bloch knows what they’re doing.
New Balance is one of my favorite shoe companies. They have consistently produced quality footwear for over a century.
Their shoes are usually made with the best materials. Even better, most of their shoes are produced in America, so buyers are supporting the economy.
New Balance crafts shoes that are well structured and durable. They offer some of the best support and stability that you will ever come by in a sports shoe. In the following list, you’ll find they also excel at making a dance shoe!
PUMA is a major German company that produces athletic products in footwear, clothing, and accessories. PUMA has been around since 1948 crafting quality products for those in the fitness industry.
They have some famous athlete endorsers including track athlete Usain Bolt and football player Diego Maradona. A very reputable brand, you can tell PUMA takes pride in their name and products in the quality they produce.
Capezio is another shoe company similar to Bloch that specializes in dance shoes. But Capezio, unlike Bloch, has been around for almost 140 years. Their credibility is high.
Overall, this time, they’ve excelled at crafting some of the best dance shoes on the market with quality materials. Their shoes have been worn by professional dancers for many years, not to mention big-name celebrities like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
Zumba dance fitness program was developed by Beto Perze, who later become the founder of Zumba Fitness, LLC. This company makes footwear specially designed for Zumba dancing. For this reason, you’ll find that these shoes have all of the features you’ll want out of a Zumba shoe.
10 Best Shoes for Zumba Reviews
Zumba is a dance fitness program that was born during the 1990s. Since then, it has grown into a global movement that encourages millions of women to take care of their bodies while having fun.
There’s no doubt that Zumba dancing is great for both your body and your soul. However, inadequate footwear can ruin all the fun. To make sure your feet feel good while practicing Zumba, you need to buy a pair of good training shoes.
Whichever model of these 10 highly recommended Zumba sneakers, you can be sure they will serve you well!
At the top of the list we have PUMA’s Cell Riaze and not by any small feat. PUMA utilizes cell technology to keep compression to a minimum, making these shoes comfortable for long periods of time. You can count on this model by PUMA to be supportive, comfortable, as well as good-looking.
I like these PUMA’s for how well padded they are. The cushioned midsole and heel make these extra comfortable to dance in. A high-rebound EcoOrthoLite sock liner keeps your feet reacting quickly while keeping them dry.
The upper uses a two-toned mesh with bonded synthetics that forms to your foot like a glove while keeping the shoe lightweight. Lightweight is a key feature for top Zumba shoes, as you will be doing quick (very quick) movements often.
EverTrack high-abrasion outsole allows for enough traction to keep you grounded. This also adds durability of the shoe.
The EVA and bubble technology in the midsole keep the sole of the shoe flexible while also providing a good amount of support in the arch. Their cell technology has really made a difference in this area.
Is there such thing as too much good stuff? Well, I guess that depends on the person and their feet. Some may find that these shoes have too much padding making these shoes uncomfortably tight. Too this, I say maybe try a size up!
I love when shoe designers go the extra mile to craft a shoe with excellent quality and use in mind. That is definitely the case with the Puma Cell Riaze. You most likely will not be disappointed with this pair as they are some of the best shoes for Zumba workout.
- Slip-resistant outsole
- Firm midsole, resistant to impacts
- Not great for women with wide feet
As mentioned earlier, RYKA designs shoes specifically for women, so they really shine in a Zumba class. RYKA has created a great shoe that works well on the Zumba floor.
RYKA shines in their shoe technologies. The Influence shoes are made with flex-foil and direct-fuse layers that help provide lateral support for those sweeping side-to-side movements. The nice dual foam midsole cushioning hits your feet at precise pressure points keeping them comfortable.
The sole is made with RYKA’s awesome pivot point on the ball of the foot. This allows you to turn, pivot, and slide with ease. The rest of the sole has good traction when you do need to make those sudden stops.
What’s more, the insole of the shoe works with you to provide feedback to the feet that makes quick, bouncy movements easier. They call this their Precise-return insole technology.
A mesh overlay and stretchy design make these shoes breathable as well as well-fit around the foot. These are both good qualities to have in a pair of Zumba tennis shoes.
The toe box is nice and wide which is usually a good thing for Zumba footwear as it allows you to splay your toes out. Some people may find the toe box too large, though, so try some on and see what you think.
Your feet will stay comfortable because the shoes are nicely padded. With all of the great shoe technologies, the shoe still remains lightweight.
Does all of this sound good to you? I think you’ll enjoy the wide color selection as well. A comfy and trendy addition to your wardrobe, these RYKA zumba shoes may take your dancing to the next level.
- Lateral support
- Pivot point
- May be too wide for some
Looking for an even trendier option to show off in the studio? Try these shoes from Zumba called the Fly Print Dance Shoe. The name should be revealing of the style, and let me tell you, these are “fly” indeed.
These come in a variety of color combinations and prints spicing up your Zumba class outfit in a not-to-flashy but cute manner. My favorite is the Charcoal Leopard/Coral design.
Obviously, we’re not just here for the looks (although it doesn’t hurt). The Zumba Company also brings great comfort in these shoes, specifically with the compressed EVA midsole, which cushions your steps well.
Breathable mesh allows for plenty of ventilation and also keeps the shoes nice and flexible. The entire shoe is made with lightweight materials so you can do those quick moves with ease.
Another cool feature of this shoe is that the tongue is attached to the rest of the shoe for easy slip-on. There are laces that allow you to tighten as needed as well.
Overall, we can’t really find too much wrong with these shoes from Zumba. Obviously, if they call themselves Zumba and started the darn Zumba movement, they had better make some quality shoes for us! In my opinion, they've succeeded in doing so with these shoes.
- Cute style
- Z-slide for turns
- Some may find too slippery
I’ve been wearing Bloch shoes for years as a dancer, so I know firsthand the kind of quality shoes they are capable of making. These best dance sneakers are no exception.
Dance sneakers are more flexible and allow for better articulation of the feet. You’ll notice the outsole of the shoe skips the arch of the foot, so there is only an outsole on the ball of the foot and the heel.
Some may find this a good thing; some may find it a bad thing. Depending on your foot type, you may find that you like this style of shoe and they provide enough support for a Zumba class. Others with flatter feet may need to get some shoes that have a more traditional style of a sneaker with a full-length outsole.
Not to be confused, though, you are able to insert your own orthotics if necessary.
The shoe's upper is made of mesh and suede allowing for airflow through the shoe. Inside the shoe, you’ll find a DRT cushioned heel that assists with shock absorption as well as good cushioning throughout.
The ball of the shoe has that awesome pivot point feature so you can turn your little heart out. I love that the heel outsole of the shoe provides good traction when you need not be spinning.
One last thing to note about dance shoes - they run a size smaller than your regular street shoes. Order a size up and you should be golden!
If you like the maximum articulation of the feet and an overall comfortable, secure shoe, I think you'll like these dance sneakers by Bloch.
- Elegant design
- Made of highly durable materials
- There seem to be some sizing problems as customers are advised to order a bigger size than usual
New Balance consistently makes quality shoe products so you can feel confident buying a pair of NB’s. They did a great job creating a lightweight shoe with their WX867 Gymnastics.
This feature a multi-density foam insert that makes these shoes soft and cushy on the inside. The tongue and collar of the shoe are even padded for all around softness.
The mesh upper allows for ventilation and pretty good flexibility. Not to mention the style of the shoe itself which is very nice to look at. Expect to get some double takes.
The former “New Balance Arch Support Company” has implemented some of that support to the lateral sides of the shoes. This makes these strong to wear in a Zumba class with the side-to-side dance steps.
You can bet these have the awesome pivot point on the ball of the shoe, as well as good traction through the rest of the sole. The design of the shoe wins in impact protection to keep your knees and joints happy and healthy when you do those quick spins.
Overall, these are wonderful New Balance Zumba shoes. Get the support you need while on the dance floor with these shoes.
- Lateral support
- Pivot point for turning
- Runs small
PUMA is back with their sleek low-profile Slip On Dance Sneaker. The design of these shoes is quite different from the rest in this list, but in a good way.
These shoes are nice and convenient with the slip-on feature and ghillie low-maintenance laces. The whole upper of the shoe is made with a soft mesh that feels like clouds against your feet.
The tongue and collar are nicely padded, not to mention the eco-friendly foam insole. Ugh, don’t you just feel happy when you hear the word foam? It means the greatest happiness for your feet.
The outsole of this shoe isn’t as thick as most others which allows you to really feel the floor while you dance. It is made with a durable, flexible rubber that provides good traction, but doesn’t have that pivot point.
Probably the lightest shoes you’ll ever come across or wear to a Zumba class, you’ll definitely be able to move quickly. The softness inside the shoe also makes these some of the comfiest shoes you’ll wear. You may not even want to take them off when you get home!
- Good traction on hard surfaces
- Lacking in arch support
- Consider ordering a size up
RYKA is back with another winner in the Zumba dancing department. The Dynamic Cross-Training Shoe brings all of the shoe technologies you could want in a Zumba sneaker.
Like the Influence’s, the Dynamics feature the Precise-return insole for instant feedback through the foot. The N-gage EVA midsole allows for more cushioning, and the high-abrasion exo-shell outsole makes for a very durable shoe.
Mesh covers the upper of the shoe with synthetic overlays and an X-ray frame design. The X-ray frame is crafted with a mono screen for airflow keeping your dancing feet nice and cool.
The heel and forefoot of the shoe are made with RYKA’s flex groove technology. This makes the shoe flexible while remaining lightweight. I love these features in a Zumba shoe.
Color options for these RYKAs are numerous, many of them in the blue color scheme. My personal favorite is the beautiful Electric blue with orange detailing.
Complaints are to a minimum with these RYKAs. Crafted for women, you can feel confident that these shoes will support you while you dance.
- Well-made shoe
- Lateral and impact protection
- Could have some more cushioning
ASICS is really a premier brand in the fitness shoe industry. They are known for crafting fantastic ergonomically sound shoes for every type of fitness enthusiast. Yes, that includes us Zumba dancers.
The GEL-fit Sana is a nicely designed shoe that comes in a variety of color combinations, some even beautiful gradient colors. I love the minimal, low-profile design.
Besides the look of the shoe, ASICS really wins in the overall crafting of the shoe with their signature shoe technologies.
They implement the stretchable MONO-SOCK fit system that wraps the foot in a snug, secure all-around hug. They succeeded in this while eliminating any unnecessary weight.
The sole is made with a low-profile midsole and AHAR+ high-abrasion outsole. These features make the sole of the shoe more durable than most, but also flexible. Shock absorption is well integrated into the shoe design easing the impact on your joints.
Rearfoot Gel cushioning makes the inside of the shoe soft to the touch. Stability and support are taken care of with the Dynamic Duomax midsole.
Your feet will remain cool and dry because the upper is made with flexible mesh. The entire shoe is made with lightweight materials.
Some may find that these shoes wear down fairly quickly. As long as you’re wearing them solely for Zumba classes, they should last you a good amount of time.
- Solid shock absorption
- Well-padded for cushioning
- Nice style
- May wear down quickly with excessive use
Like Bloch, Capezio specializes in crafting shoes specifically for dancers. If you’re an avid dancer, or you just enjoy this style, you’ll enjoy these Dansneakers from Capezio.
Similar to Bloch’s dance sneaker mentioned earlier, this shoe has the outsole lining the ball and heel of the foot but skips the arch. The PU outsole doesn’t mark the floor and is made with built-in flex points.
I enjoy the flexibility of these shoes as well as the stability they provide. Being a dancer myself, I appreciate any chance at articulation through the feet.
The upper is made with synthetic leather and a tech-mesh upper for a nice clean design with ventilation.
The toe box has plenty of room and even offers a flat, boxed toe for toe stands. Just be careful if you start to think you’re Michael Jackson. Toe stands are not for the weak of feet.
The inside of the shoe is nicely padded with foam (there’s that word again) which make these super comfortable to wear. A removable EVA footbed is implemented, but you may not need to remove it, as it is well-contoured to fit the foot.
Dance sneakers for Zumba need to be well fitted to provide the best experience, so make sure to find your perfect fit. Once you do, you’ll find your Zumba experience improving tenfold.
- Split sole for articulation and flexibility
- Roomy toe box (and toe stands!)
- All-around padding for support and to prevent “Zumba knee.”
- May prove heavier than other models
- May not be best for flat feet
Last but not least, we have the Impact Max Dance Shoe from Zumba. Zumba loved adding all of their shoe technologies to this shoe: Z-brace, Z-compress, and Z-slide.
Z-brace does just as it sounds: it embraces the foot. It holds the foot in a secure wrap so you can feel comfortable performing those fast, high-energy Zumba moves.
Z-compress is an energy return system crafted by the Zumba Company. It is implemented in the sole of the shoe to reduce the force of high-impact moves. This helps hold the shape of the shoe in its original form, aiding in stability and durability.
Z-slide was mentioned earlier in the Dynamics, making these shoes good for the pivots and turns. Some people may find that this Z-slide feature is a little too good, so perhaps scuffing them up a bit before regular use would be beneficial.
The inside of the shoe is well cushioned while keeping the shoe lightweight. Easy movement is a key feature of these Zumba sneakers.
I think you will find value in this model by Zumba. They’ve created a solid performance shoe that will help you get more joy out of your Zumba class.
- Z-brace, Z-compress, Z-slide
- Good for turning
- Overall high comfort quality
- Can be slippery
- Toe-box space is a bit limited
Zumba Shoes Buying Guide
So, you need a pair of shoes that are going to support you while you shake your hips, perform those quick Latin steps, and turn effortlessly? These are the things you need to be looking out for when buying your best sneakers for Zumba:
Zumba is a style of dance cardio that requires a lot of quick movements and transitioning of the feet. For this reason, you’ll want to find a shoe that won’t slow you down with unnecessary added weight.
Look for shoes made with lightweight materials. As much as possible, you should almost forget that you have shoes on. This will allow you to move as quickly as possible.
2. Flexibility and Support
Zumba requires a lot of articulation through the feet and seamless contact with the floor. It’s important to find shoes that will allow you to move easily through the sole and not hinder the movement of your feet too much.
With that said, some may find that increased flexibility means lack of support. Some of us direly need the arch support provided in sneakers. This is why it is important to know your foot type and what you will need in a shoe.
There are plenty of shoe designs that offer a perfect balance and support and flexibility. Knowing your personal needs combined with the needs for Zumba will assure you'll find the best shoes.
3. Lateral Support
Most shoes are made for forward propulsion, like running or walking in which you move in a forward motion. When you dance Zumba, most of the steps and movements are done laterally, or side-to-side.
This is why getting a pair of shoes specifically for Zumba is beneficial. The kind of support you’ll get from top rated Zumba shoes is conducive to the type of support you’ll need.
Look for shoes that have good support on either side of the shoe. You’ll find that the pain that you used to feel dancing in running shoes is no longer when you dance in Zumba dance shoes.
4. Slip vs. Traction
Turns! We love to turn in Zumba, as well as pivot, slide and glide across the floor. Regular shoes’ traction don’t allow this to be done very easily. In fact, the grip can be detrimental to your knees.
At the same time, you don’t want the entire sole to be slippery. Most of Zumba is not turns, and movements usually include a high number of sudden stops, so traction is beneficial.
Shoes with a pivot point on the ball of the foot while the rest of the sole has good grip is a perfect combination. This is a key feature you’ll want to look for that will make those moves easier and better for your body in the long run.

Zumba is so much fun. I know you know this. It’s the main reason we continue to go to class. It’s a great way to get some cardio in while having a fantastic time dancing your heart out.
A pair of shoes should not take away from that experience; it should add to it! A pair of flexible, supportive shoes will make it easier for you to perform the quick movements, allowing you to focus on the enjoyment of dancing.
I guarantee you’ll find a pair of best Zumba shoes from this list that will help you do just this.
